Castilla’s liveliest city
This sunny sandstone city boasts Spain’s grandest plaza (above pic – Plaza Mayor), its oldest university, and a fascinating history, all swaddled in a strolling, college-town ambience. A youthful and less touristy version of Toledo, Salamanca is simply beautiful and even though it wasn’t the highlight of my trip – I definitely don’t discourage the visit.
